How we decide what to publish

Who writes our guides

Guides carry a single byline: the Technical Kisan editorial desk. They are compiled from published ICAR and state agricultural university guidance, and from central and state government scheme notifications.

We do not put invented names and fabricated credentials on articles to look more authoritative. An author box is a promise that a qualified, named person stands behind advice that will cost you money, and we will not make that promise until it is true. When named contributors join, they will appear with credentials you can verify.

Where our numbers come from

Figures for MSP, subsidy rates, scheme eligibility and fertiliser prices are drawn from the relevant ministry, department or official notification. Agronomic recommendations — seed rates, nutrient doses, sowing windows — follow ICAR and state agricultural university guidance for the region concerned.

Every number is labelled with the season it applies to. An MSP is meaningless without a year attached to it, and a subsidy rate that was true two seasons ago can be actively harmful if it is quoted as current.

What we will not do

• No paid placements. No company has ever paid for a mention, a recommendation or a ranking on this site, and none ever will. This is not negotiable.
• No affiliate-driven advice. If we ever earn a commission on anything, it will be disclosed in plain language on the page it appears.
• No brand recommendations we cannot stand behind. We will tell you what specification to look for and what it should cost. We will not tell you whose badge to buy.
• No advice we would not follow ourselves. Where the honest answer is that a technology or an input is not worth the money on a holding your size, that is what the guide will say.

Dating and updating

Every article carries a publication date, and an update date if it has been revised. Seasonal guidance — sowing windows, MSP tables, scheme deadlines — is reviewed before each kharif and rabi season. An article that can no longer be kept current is withdrawn rather than left to mislead.

Corrections

We get things wrong. When we do, we fix the article, note that it was updated, and — if the error was material enough to have changed a reader’s decision — say what was wrong and what it should have said.

If you have found an error, write to [email protected]. Corrections from farmers who have found that our guidance does not hold in their district are the most valuable messages we receive.

The limits of what we can tell you

Nothing on this site is a substitute for advice about your field. Soil, water, local pest pressure and district-level scheme implementation vary enormously across India, and a guide written for a region cannot account for a specific holding.

Before acting on any figure here — particularly a subsidy rate, an eligibility rule or a deadline — confirm it against the official notification or with your local Krishi Vigyan Kendra, block agriculture officer or bank. We will always tell you where to look.
