What we can say about MAHY-1 is short. It is a private F1 hybrid sold by Mahyco. It is sold in packs through dealers and seed shops. What we cannot say is how many days it takes, how heavy its fruit is or how much it yields, because no university or government trial report we found covers it.
That matters because you pay more for hybrid seed. TNAU's own ash gourd hybrid shows what a documented hybrid looks like: a stated parentage (PAG 3 x CO 2), 120 to 130 days, 4 to 5 kg fruit and a stated average yield. A hybrid sold without those numbers on paper puts the risk on you.
So do three things. Buy one pack, not ten. Keep the pack and its lot number. And write down your own days, fruit counts and fruit weights from the first crop. After one season you will have the only MAHY-1 trial that matters to you.

Ask for four things in writing: the days to first harvest, the average fruit weight, the yield the company claims and the state where it was measured. Also ask for the lot number and packing date on the pack. If the seller cannot give them, treat the claims as advertising.
Is MAHY-1 the same as the MAH-1 in the Odisha trial?
We cannot say. A 15-genotype trial in Gajapathi, Odisha (J. Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry 10(1), 2021) lists a genotype called MAH-1 as earliest to harvest, at 119 days. The paper does not say it is Mahyco's hybrid, so that figure is left out.
Can I save seed from MAHY-1 fruit?
No. It is an F1 hybrid, and seed from its fruit will not give the same fruit. Buy new seed every season. TNAU's own page puts the hybrid seed rate at 1.5 kg/ha, against 2.5 kg/ha for varieties, but that is for TNAU's hybrid, so read the seed rate on your pack.
How do I test MAHY-1 fairly against a public variety?
Sow both on the same day in the same field, with the same pits, manure and watering. Record the days to first harvest, the number of fruits and the weight of every fruit. Compare the yield per plant, and subtract the extra cost of hybrid seed. If MAHY-1 does not clearly win, the public variety is cheaper and can be saved from.
