Pusa Uday is an IARI, New Delhi cucumber variety — an Indian-type, monoecious (not gynoecious), non-parthenocarpic open-field cultivar, corroborated across secondary sources. Fruit is light green, medium-sized, about 15 cm long, straight, soft-skinned and non-prickled. It reaches maturity in 50-55 days and gives a reported yield of about 65 q/acre (roughly 15.6 t/ha), using about 1.45 kg seed per acre. It is also widely used as a breeding parent — in genetic studies it has shown the highest positive general combining ability (GCA) for fruit length, fruit diameter and average fruit weight, and gynoecious inbred lines have been developed by backcrossing it with gynoecious/parthenocarpic material.
