JLS 73

JLS 73 is a newer linseed line from the Jabalpur / Regional Agricultural Research Station, Sagar programme of JNKVV, developed and evaluated under the ICAR All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP) on Linseed. It is recommended for Madhya Pradesh and matures in roughly 120–130 days. Its distinguishing feature is oil quality rather than oil quantity: JLS 73 has been reported with one of the highest alpha-linolenic acid (omega-3) fractions among Indian linseed varieties, reaching around the high-50s percent of the fatty-acid profile. That matters where linseed is grown for the health-food and nutraceutical market, which pays for omega-3 content, rather than only for crushing into total oil.
