Overview
MEBVY is Uttarakhand's integrated horticulture scheme, brought in from 2024 to pull several separate lines of horticulture support into one framework covering the full chain — planting material, the orchard, post-harvest handling, cold storage and transport — because hill fruit growers historically lost a large share of value to spoilage between farm and market.
The input subsidy — around 50% — covers fruit saplings, seed and pesticides for a new or expanding orchard. A separate infrastructure component supports Cool Houses (small on-farm cold rooms) and Refrigerator Vans so perishable hill produce reaches the market without loss. It runs alongside the state's other horticulture lines — Mission Apple, protected cultivation / polyhouses, off-season vegetables, beekeeping and orchard fencing — which carry their own subsidies and are applied for separately.
