It is a high-yielding variety with medium-to-large fruit, reported to give around 155 kg per tree per year on a mature planting — among the higher documented yields of any named amla variety — and is well suited to the red laterite and sandy loam soils common across Tamil Nadu's growing tracts. It is the standard recommended amla variety for Tamil Nadu conditions, and its fruit is used for candy, juice-concentrate and chyawanprash-grade raw material.
