About this variety

Yogeshwari is one of the mainstay improved tamarind varieties of Maharashtra, grown as a graft across the Marathwada tamarind belt and into Karnataka and Telangana. Its defining trait is a deep red pulp, which processors value because it carries strong natural colour into chutney, sauce and concentrate without additives. It bears regularly and heavily from about the fourth or fifth year on a grafted tree and is a common choice for orchards aimed at the pulp-processing trade.
