Pusa Vishwas is an open-pollinated pumpkin variety from ICAR-IARI, New Delhi, bred for heavy yield in the northern plains. The vine is vigorous and long-running, bearing large, round to slightly oblong fruit with deep orange, firm flesh that stores well once properly cured. Because it is open-pollinated, farmers can save seed from a good fruit for the next season rather than buying fresh hybrid seed every year, which keeps its cost of cultivation low relative to F1 hybrids.
