Overview
Goa is a small state where farming competes with tourism and construction for land and labour, and where the national MSP alone does not make a paddy field worth keeping. The Assured Price scheme answers that directly: the state guarantees its own support price for the crops that define Goan agriculture, at rates set well above the central minimum.
The 2023–24 revision raised paddy from ₹20 to ₹22 a kg, cashew from ₹125 to ₹150 a kg, and coconut from ₹12 to ₹15 a nut — the cashew and coconut rates applying from February and April 2023 respectively. One limit is worth knowing before you plan around it: for coconut the assured price is capped at 50,000 nuts per beneficiary, for a maximum of five hectares with 800 bearing trees. Rates are revised by amending the scheme, so treat these as the 2023–24 figures and check the current notification.
