About this variety

VTLAH-1 is a dwarf hybrid from ICAR-CPCRI, a cross between Hirehalli Dwarf and Sumangala, bred to combine earlier bearing with a shorter, more manageable stem than the tall standard selections. A shorter palm is genuinely easier and safer to harvest, since it needs less climbing or a shorter pole to reach the bunches, and its earlier bearing shortens the establishment period before a grower sees real income. It is a newer option than the long-established tall selections and worth considering specifically where ease of harvest and a faster payback matter as much as raw yield.
