About this variety

Konkan Prolific was developed by Dr Balasaheb Sawant Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth, Dapoli, Maharashtra, in 2004 specifically for the Konkan coastal belt. It is an exceptionally heavy bearer — reported figures put a mature tree at over 70 fruit a season, totalling more than 400 kg, with individual fruit reaching up to about 25 kg — and bears in the January–February window, distinct from many other varieties. Its sheer productivity makes it a strong choice for commercial growers on the west coast, though the very large individual fruit size needs careful handling at harvest.
