About this variety

Siddu Jack is a Karnataka farmer-selection that drew wider attention for its distinctive coppery-red, thick, sweet bulbs and was subsequently identified, authenticated and promoted for commercial cultivation by ICAR-IIHR, Bengaluru, around 2019. It is now propagated as a grafted plant through nurseries and is a good example of how a strong local jackfruit selection can enter mainstream commercial cultivation once its quality is recognised and verified — its coppery-red bulb colour, in particular, is a genuine point of difference from the more common pale-yellow types.
