Hisar Sonali

Hisar Sonali was developed by CCS Haryana Agricultural University through pure-line selection from local germplasm and identified for release in 1983. It grows as a bushy, semi-erect plant carrying bold, attractive yellow seed weighing 13 to 15 grams per 1,000 seeds — a genuine marketable trait, since seed size and colour affect the price fenugreek fetches. It matures in 140 to 150 days with a reported yield of 6.8 to 8 quintals per acre (roughly 17 to 20 q/ha), among the higher figures reported for a named fenugreek variety, though no specific disease-resistance trait is documented for it, so growers on a disease-prone field should weigh it against RMt-1 or Hisar Suvarna, which do carry documented resistance.
