Mukhyamantri Krishi Input Anudan Yojana
Input subsidy when flood, drought or hail damages a third or more of your crop — up to two hectares per farmer.
Run by: Department of Agriculture, Government of Bihar
- Unirrigated land
- ₹8,500 / hectare
- Irrigated land
- ₹17,000 / hectare
- Perennial crops
- ₹22,500 / hectare
- Maximum area
- 2 hectares per farmer
Overview
This is disaster relief paid as an input subsidy: the state helps you buy seed and fertiliser again after a crop is lost, rather than compensating the value of the crop. It is announced district by district after a damage assessment, so a notification for one block does not mean the whole state is open.
The rates are per hectare and depend on the land: ₹8,500 for unirrigated land, ₹17,000 for irrigated land, and ₹22,500 for perennial crops such as sugarcane. The claim is capped at two hectares per farmer, and the damage must be assessed at 33 per cent or more. Both raiyat (landowning) and non-raiyat (cultivating) farmers can apply. Read the per-hectare figures as the band the state has been notifying rather than a fixed rate — each disaster notification sets its own rates and window, and lower slabs have been used for some events, so check the notification for your district before counting on an amount.
What you get
The benefit as the state notifies it — nothing here is an estimate.
- ₹8,500 per hectare for unirrigated land and ₹17,000 per hectare for irrigated land.
- ₹22,500 per hectare for perennial crops such as sugarcane.
- Open to both raiyat and non-raiyat farmers — the person cultivating can claim, not only the owner.
- Paid by DBT into the registered bank account, with no office visit after filing.
Who is eligible
State schemes usually state their criteria as prose rather than a checklist. This is that prose, unpacked — the department’s verification is what decides.
You qualify if
- Farmer cultivating in Bihar, raiyat or non-raiyat
- Crop damage assessed at 33 per cent or more
- Land falls in a district or block notified as affected for that event
- Registered on the DBT Agriculture portal with a valid farmer registration number
Not covered
- Districts or blocks not notified as affected for that particular disaster
- Claims for area beyond the two-hectare ceiling
Documents you need
Have these ready before you start — most rejections are a missing paper, not a missing right.
- Bihar farmer registration number (DBT Agriculture)
- Aadhaar card
- Land record — LPC / rasid — or the self-declaration for a non-raiyat farmer
- Bank passbook, Aadhaar-seeded
- Panchayat certification for a non-raiyat claim
How to apply
Fewer steps than a central scheme, and usually one office rather than a portal.
- 1
Register on the DBT Agriculture portal
A farmer registration number on dbtagriculture.bihar.gov.in is the prerequisite. Getting it done before a disaster saves days afterwards.
- 2
Apply within the announced window
The application opens for a limited period after a damage notification, district by district. Enter the affected area and the crop.
- 3
Verification by the agriculture coordinator
The Kisan Salahkar and agriculture coordinator verify the damage on the ground. Payment follows by DBT.
Frequently asked questions
I do not own the land I farm. Can I claim?
Yes. Non-raiyat (cultivating) farmers can apply with a self-declaration certified at panchayat level. The subsidy follows the person who lost the crop.
How much land can I claim for?
Up to two hectares per farmer, at the per-hectare rate that matches the land — unirrigated, irrigated, or perennial crop.
The portal is not accepting my application. Why?
Most often because your district or block is not in the current damage notification, or the application window has closed. Both are announced event by event.
