Overview
MMKSSY is a state-funded farm-mechanisation scheme running since 2018–19. Rather than distributing machinery, it puts money in the farmer’s hands to buy the scientific tools the holding actually needs — the state’s judgement being that a farmer knows better than a depot which implement is missing.
It is aimed squarely at the bottom of the ladder: small and marginal farmers only, one per family. The rule worth knowing is that sharecroppers and tenant farmers are explicitly included, provided they cultivate at least one acre — in Assam that covers a very large share of the people actually working the land.

Who is eligible
State schemes usually state their criteria as prose rather than a checklist. This is that prose, unpacked — the department’s verification is what decides.
You qualify if
- Resident farmer of Assam, aged 21 or above
- Small or marginal farmer — larger holdings are not covered
- Engaged in cultivation for at least three consecutive years
- A sharecropper or tenant farmer qualifies if cultivating at least one acre
- An operative bank account — a KCC account counts

Get the form from the Directorate
The application form is downloadable in Assamese and English from the Directorate of Agriculture site, under Schemes.

Submit it to your Agricultural Extension Assistant
The completed form goes to the AEA for your area. They are also the right person to confirm the current per-farmer amount.

Verification and transfer
The department verifies the holding and the three-year cultivation record, then transfers the assistance to your bank account.
Frequently asked questions
How much money is paid per farmer?
The per-farmer amount is fixed in the departmental guideline and revised from year to year, so we have not printed a figure we could not check against the Directorate’s own published guideline. Your Agricultural Extension Assistant or the Directorate of Agriculture will confirm the current rate.
I farm on a share basis. Am I eligible?
Yes. Sharecroppers and tenant farmers are explicitly covered, provided you cultivate at least one acre.
Can my brother and I both apply?
Not if you are the same family. Only one farmer per family is eligible under the scheme.
