Overview
Raitha Vidyanidhi is aimed at keeping farmers’ children in education through the expensive later years — pre-university, degree, professional and postgraduate courses — where dropout risk is highest for a farm household under financial pressure.
The amount scales up with the level of study, and girl students get a higher scholarship at every level to specifically support their continued education. Roughly, it runs: ₹2,500/year for girls in Class 8-10, ₹3,500/year for Class 11-12 (PU), ₹5,000/year for ITI or diploma, ₹7,500/year for a general degree (BA/BCom/BSc), and ₹11,000/year for professional and postgraduate courses (engineering, medicine, law, MBA, PhD).
The scheme was launched on 7 August 2021 by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai at his first cabinet meeting, with a ₹1,000 crore budget. It was extended on 11 April 2022 to also cover children of weaver and fisherman families — not only farmers — with hostel support added for fishermen's children through the Social Welfare department, and separately extended to girls of Classes 8 and 9 as an added retention measure at an earlier, more dropout-prone stage.

- Currently enrolled in Class 11, pre-university, degree, professional or postgraduate/PhD course
- Family’s farmer status and land record verified in the FID/FRUITS system

Confirm parent’s FID registration
Make sure the farmer-parent is registered with a valid FID in Karnataka’s farmer database.

Submit the scholarship application online with the student’s admission proof and bank details.

After the department verifies enrollment and farmer status, the scholarship is credited to the student’s bank account.
