About this variety
Pusa Rudhira is an improved tropical (Asiatic) red carrot from ICAR-IARI, New Delhi, developed as a higher-yielding, more uniform successor to Pusa Kesar. Its roots are long, smooth and self-red, with a high lycopene content that gives the deep red colour and nutritional value, and a small core. It matures quickly at around 90 days from an October–November sowing and is one of the most widely planted carrots in the northern plains, used fresh and for juice and processing.
