About this variety

Private seed companies sell F1 hybrid African marigolds (the Inca, Maxima and similar series are well-known examples) bred for very uniform, large, dense double flowers and heavy, even yields on a predictable, well-structured plant. The seed costs considerably more than open-pollinated varieties and must be bought fresh each season (saved hybrid seed does not come true), but in a well-managed, high-input commercial planting aimed at a premium garland or export-style market the uniformity and yield can justify the cost. For a low-input or seed-saving grower, the open-pollinated Pusa and Arka varieties remain the practical choice.
