About this variety
Kalipatti is the dominant commercial sapota variety of Maharashtra's Gholvad–Dahanu belt, and is also widely grown in Gujarat and northern Karnataka. Its elongated fruit has a thin skin and brown-sandy, moderately grainy flesh at about 16–18°Brix sweetness. What sets it apart commercially is a genuinely long shelf life of 7–10 days after ripening starts — noticeably longer than most other named varieties — which lets it travel to distant markets in better condition than thinner-margined competitors, and is a large part of why it has become India's leading sapota variety by area.

Advantages & considerations
Why farmers may choose it
- Genuinely long shelf life (7–10 days) — a real trading advantage for distant markets
- The most widely grown and best-understood commercial variety in western India
- Good, consistent sweetness (~16–18°Brix)
Things to consider
- Must be a proper graft on khirni rootstock — an ungrafted seedling of any variety bears slowly and unreliably
- No special disease resistance claimed
