Overview
This is Haryana’s personal-accident cover for everyone in the farm chain, run by the marketing board rather than an insurer. It reaches beyond the landowning farmer to agricultural labourers and market-yard (mandi) workers — the people who are usually left out of any cover at all.
Compensation is graded by the injury: the full ₹5 lakh for death, down to ₹37,500 for the smaller notified injuries, with amounts in between for the loss of limbs or eyes. It covers accidents while doing agricultural work, including cattle, poultry and dairy work. The age cap was removed, so cover no longer stops at 65.
What you get
The benefit as the state notifies it — nothing here is an estimate.
- Up to ₹5 lakh on death from an accident during agricultural work.
- Graded amounts from ₹37,500 upward for loss of limbs, eyes and lesser permanent injuries.
- Covers farmers, agricultural labourers and market-yard workers alike — not only landowners.
- No age limit, so older workers are covered too, and accidents in cattle, poultry and dairy work count.
Who is eligible
State schemes usually state their criteria as prose rather than a checklist. This is that prose, unpacked — the department’s verification is what decides.
You qualify if
- Resident of Haryana working in agriculture or a mandi
- Farmer, agricultural labourer or market-yard worker
- Death or disability caused by an accident during agricultural work
- Claim filed with the required accident and medical records
Not covered
- Accidents unconnected to agricultural or mandi work
- Claims without the supporting FIR / post-mortem or medical certificate
Documents you need
Have these ready before you start — most rejections are a missing paper, not a missing right.
- FIR or panchnama for the accident
- Death certificate, or medical certificate stating the disability
- Post-mortem report where applicable
- Aadhaar and identity proof of the claimant
- Bank passbook
How to apply
Fewer steps than a central scheme, and usually one office rather than a portal.
- 1
Get the accident recorded
FIR or panchnama first, then the death or disability certificate. The claim is built on these documents.
- 2
Apply to the marketing board
The claim goes to the Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board, which administers the scheme; applications can be filed online.
- 3
Verification and payment
The board verifies the accident and the injury grade, then releases the compensation to the claimant’s account.
Frequently asked questions
Are farm labourers and mandi workers covered, or only farmers?
All three — farmers, agricultural labourers and market-yard workers. The test is that the accident happened during agricultural or mandi work.
Is ₹5 lakh paid for every accident?
No. ₹5 lakh is for death. Lesser permanent injuries carry graded amounts starting from ₹37,500 depending on what was lost.
I am over 65. Am I still covered?
Yes. The age cap was removed, so there is no longer an upper age limit on the cover.
