Overview

This is a new, separate loan-relief scheme, not a renaming of the 2019 Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Shetkari Karjmukti Yojana. It was announced in the 2026-27 state budget on 6 March 2026, and the Maharashtra Cabinet approved it on 2 June 2026 with an outlay of ₹36,585 crore for an estimated 56 lakh farmer families. The Co-operation Department issued its own Government Resolution and built a separate implementation track from the 2019 scheme, which only ever covered loans taken between April 2015 and March 2019.

This scheme covers short-term crop loans taken between 1 April 2019 and 31 March 2025 from nationalised banks, district central co-operative banks or Regional Rural Banks, where the account was overdue as of 30 September 2025. A defaulting account gets the outstanding waived up to ₹2 lakh. Separately, a farmer who repaid such a loan on time through 2022-23, 2023-24 and 2024-25 — without ever going into default — qualifies for a cash incentive of up to ₹50,000, rewarding discipline rather than just clearing bad debt.

Enrolment runs through the Agristack Farmer Registry Platform: a farmer registers an Agristack Farmer ID, then completes Aadhaar e-KYC at a bank branch, co-operative society, talathi office, gram panchayat or Aaple Sarkar Seva Kendra. Provisional beneficiary lists are published at gram panchayats, societies and bank branches in phases, and the waiver or incentive is credited by Direct Benefit Transfer only after authentication — there is no separate application form to fill.

The rollout has begun: a symbolic first list of 533 eligible farmers across seven districts was released on 23 July 2026, and the Co-operation Department has since uploaded a first-phase list of about 17 lakh eligible farmers to its portal.

What you get

The benefit as the state notifies it — nothing here is an estimate.

  • Outstanding short-term crop loan waived up to ₹2 lakh for accounts overdue as of 30 September 2025.
  • A separate ₹50,000 cash incentive for farmers who repaid on time through 2022-23 to 2024-25 without defaulting.
  • Covers loans from nationalised banks, district central co-operative banks and Regional Rural Banks alike.
  • No landholding-size condition — eligibility is decided farmer by farmer, not by farm size.
  • Enrolment via Agristack and Aadhaar e-KYC, so there is nothing to apply for beyond authenticating your identity.

Who is eligible

State schemes usually state their criteria as prose rather than a checklist. This is that prose, unpacked — the department’s verification is what decides.

You qualify if

  • Farmer in Maharashtra with a short-term crop loan taken between 1 April 2019 and 31 March 2025
  • For the waiver: loan account overdue as of 30 September 2025
  • For the ₹50,000 incentive: loan repaid on time in each of 2022-23, 2023-24 and 2024-25, with no default
  • Agristack Farmer ID registered and Aadhaar e-KYC completed

Not covered

  • Loan amount above the ₹2 lakh ceiling (only the ceiling is cleared)
  • Loans taken outside the 1 April 2019 to 31 March 2025 window
  • Accounts not authenticated through Agristack and Aadhaar e-KYC

Documents you need

Have these ready before you start — most rejections are a missing paper, not a missing right.

  • Aadhaar card
  • Agristack Farmer ID
  • Digital 7/12 land record
  • Bank passbook (first page)
  • Active mobile number for OTP/e-KYC

How to apply

Fewer steps than a central scheme, and usually one office rather than a portal.

  1. 1

    Register on Agristack

Get an Agristack Farmer ID registered at a co-operative society, bank branch, talathi office, gram panchayat or Aaple Sarkar Seva Kendra.

  2. 2

    Complete Aadhaar e-KYC

Authenticate with Aadhaar when the SMS notification arrives, confirming you are the genuine borrower on the loan account.

  3. 3

Check the beneficiary list, get the DBT credit

Provisional lists are put up at the gram panchayat, society and bank branch; once verified, the waiver or incentive is credited straight to the loan or bank account.

If something goes wrong

Missing from the list, or payment stuck — here is the channel the department itself publishes for it.

  • If your name is missing from the provisional list, or the loan amount shown is wrong, first raise it at your bank branch and the primary agricultural credit society, and then the District Deputy Registrar (Co-operative Societies), who handles list objections district-wise. The scheme helpline is 022-49150802.
  • For a complaint that stays stuck, lodge it on Maharashtra's Aaple Sarkar grievance portal at grievances.maharashtra.gov.in or call the state helpline 1800 120 8040 (8am–8pm) — grievances there are meant to be addressed within 21 working days.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the same as the 2019 Phule Shetkari Karjmukti Yojana?

No. The 2019 scheme covered loans from April 2015 to March 2019. This is a separate scheme, announced in the 6 March 2026 budget and approved by Cabinet on 2 June 2026, covering loans from April 2019 to March 2025 that were overdue as of 30 September 2025.

Which loans does the waiver cover?

Short-term crop loans taken between 1 April 2019 and 31 March 2025 from a nationalised bank, district central co-operative bank or Regional Rural Bank, where the account was overdue as of 30 September 2025. The outstanding is cleared up to ₹2 lakh.

I repaid my crop loan on time every year. Do I get anything?

Yes — a cash incentive of up to ₹50,000 if you repaid on time through 2022-23, 2023-24 and 2024-25 without defaulting, separate from the waiver for defaulting accounts.

Do I need to submit an application form?

No separate form. Register your Agristack Farmer ID, complete Aadhaar e-KYC, and the waiver or incentive is credited automatically once your name is verified on the beneficiary list.

Is there any farm-size limit?

No. There is no landholding-size condition — eligibility is decided account by account on the ₹2 lakh ceiling and the overdue date, not by how much land you hold.

How do I check if I am on the list?

Provisional beneficiary lists are put up in phases at the gram panchayat, the credit society and the bank branch. A first list of 533 farmers came out on 23 July 2026, and a first-phase list of about 17 lakh farmers has been uploaded to the Co-operation Department portal.
