Mukhyamantri Krishak Sathi Yojana
Graded compensation up to ₹2 lakh when a farmer or farm labourer is killed or injured in an agricultural accident.
Run by: Department of Agriculture, Government of Rajasthan
- Maximum relief
- Up to ₹2 lakh
- Structure
- Graded by injury
- Who is covered
- Farmers and farm labourers
- Premium
- None — state funded
Overview
Krishak Sathi covers accidents that happen while doing farm work — a thresher injury, a fall from a tractor, a snakebite in the field, electrocution at a pump. It applies to agricultural labourers as well as landholding farmers, which matters because labourers are usually the ones without any other cover.
Compensation is graded by the injury: the full amount for death or the most serious permanent disabilities, and smaller notified amounts for the loss of fingers, a limb, or an eye. The state raised the compensation for fractures and head injuries substantially when the scheme was renamed, so older figures circulating online understate what is payable.
What you get
The benefit as the state notifies it — nothing here is an estimate.
- Compensation up to ₹2 lakh for death or the most serious permanent disability in a farm accident.
- Graded amounts for lesser injuries — loss of fingers, a limb, an eye, fractures and head injuries.
- Agricultural labourers are covered, not only farmers who own the land.
- No premium and no policy — the state funds the relief directly.
Who is eligible
State schemes usually state their criteria as prose rather than a checklist. This is that prose, unpacked — the department’s verification is what decides.
You qualify if
- Resident of Rajasthan working in agriculture
- Farmer, or an agricultural labourer working on a farm
- Injury or death caused by an accident during agricultural work
- Claim filed within the notified time limit with the required certificates
Not covered
- Accidents unconnected to agricultural work
- Claims filed after the notified time limit without approval
Documents you need
Have these ready before you start — most rejections are a missing paper, not a missing right.
- FIR or panchnama for the accident
- Death certificate, or medical certificate stating the injury and disability
- Post-mortem report where applicable
- Aadhaar and Jan Aadhaar of the claimant
- Bank passbook
How to apply
Fewer steps than a central scheme, and usually one office rather than a portal.
- 1
Get the accident recorded
FIR or panchnama, plus a medical certificate that states the injury precisely — the grade of injury decides the amount.
- 2
Submit the claim to the agriculture office
The claim goes to the district or tehsil agriculture office with the certificates attached. File within the notified window.
- 3
Verification and payment
The department verifies the documents and the injury grade, then releases the compensation to the claimant’s account.
Frequently asked questions
Are farm labourers covered, or only landowners?
Agricultural labourers are covered. The test is that the accident happened during agricultural work, not that the land is in your name.
Is ₹2 lakh paid for every injury?
No. ₹2 lakh is the maximum, for death and the most serious permanent disabilities. Lesser injuries carry smaller notified amounts.
The scheme had a different name before. Is it the same one?
Yes — it was renamed, and the compensation for injuries such as fractures and head injuries was raised at the same time. Older figures online are out of date.
