Overview
Rajasthan approved this scheme under Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot in June 2021 to cut the electricity cost of running a tube well. A farmer on a metered agricultural connection gets 60% of the bill amount paid by the state, subject to a ceiling of ₹1,000 a month — ₹12,000 in a year. Where the bill is small, the subsidy covers it and the farmer pays nothing.
It is a bill rebate, not a bank transfer: the amount is knocked off the discom bill itself, which for farm connections is raised every two months. Any part of the monthly ₹1,000 headroom you do not use carries forward within the same financial year, so a light month can offset a heavy one.
Registration is one-time — link the consumer number, Aadhaar and bank account at an e-Mitra centre or the discom office, and the rebate then shows on every bill automatically. One condition matters: past electricity dues must be cleared first. A connection in arrears does not get the subsidy until the outstanding amount is settled.
The scheme applies only to metered agricultural connections, not unmetered flat-rate ones. It has run continuously since 2021 — about 12.7 lakh consumers had drawn roughly ₹1,324 crore by August 2022, and the state budgets around ₹1,450 crore a year for it — and it continues alongside Rajasthan's other power-relief schemes.

- A non-government (private) agricultural consumer
- No unpaid electricity arrears on the connection
- Consumer number, Aadhaar and bank account linked with the discom under the scheme

Confirm the connection is metered
Check with your discom (JVVNL, AVVNL or JdVVNL) that the farm pump connection is billed on the metered agricultural tariff.

If something goes wrong

- If the rebate is not showing on the bill after registration, or the amount looks wrong, take it up with the Junior Engineer and then the Assistant / Executive Engineer at your discom sub-division, and the discom complaint line 1912. Keep the bill and the registration acknowledgement.

Frequently asked questions
Is this the same as a free-power scheme?
No. It pays 60% of a metered bill, capped at ₹1,000 a month — not unlimited free electricity. A small bill can still come to zero after the rebate.
What if my connection is unmetered?
It does not qualify. The scheme is only for metered agricultural connections; an unmetered flat-rate connection is outside it.
I have an unpaid electricity bill. Can I still get the subsidy?
Not until the arrears are cleared. The rebate starts reflecting on your bill only after past dues are settled.
Do I need to apply every month?
No. Registration is one-time; after that the rebate is applied to every bill automatically.
My bill was under ₹1,000 one month. Do I lose the rest?
No. The unused part of the ₹1,000 monthly headroom carries forward within the same financial year and can offset a heavier month.
How is the subsidy paid — to my bank or on the bill?
On the bill. The discom deducts it from the amount you owe; it is not a separate bank transfer.
