Overview
Seed saved at home loses its strength after a few years — the same variety, sown again and again, gives a smaller harvest. That is why many farmers in Rajasthan buy fresh seed from the market every season. Mukhyamantri Beej Swavlamban Yojana is built to end that yearly buying: it teaches a group of farmers to grow good, certified seed on their own fields, so the village stops depending on outside seed.
The agriculture department forms a group of about 30 to 50 farmers in a village and gives them foundation seed from the Rajasthan State Seeds Corporation (RSSC) to start with. The group grows it under the department's guidance and gets training on seed production and handling. On the cost of that seed, a small or marginal farmer gets 50% subsidy, and other farmers get 25%.
What you get
The benefit as the state notifies it — nothing here is an estimate.
- 50% subsidy on certified seed cost for small and marginal farmers, 25% for other farmers.
- The farmer group gets foundation seed from RSSC to grow and multiply on its own fields.
- Free training on seed production and post-harvest handling from the agriculture department.
- Good seed becomes ready in the village itself for next season, cutting dependence on outside purchase.
Who is eligible
State schemes usually state their criteria as prose rather than a checklist. This is that prose, unpacked — the department’s verification is what decides.
You qualify if
- Farmer cultivating land in Rajasthan, in an area the department has picked for the scheme that season
- Willing to join the farmer group of 30–50 people formed by the agriculture department
- Ready to grow the crop and variety assigned by the department under its guidance
- Bank account for the subsidy transfer
Not covered
- Farmers growing seed outside an approved group under this scheme — the subsidy is tied to group membership

Have these ready before you start — most rejections are a missing paper, not a missing right.

- Jamabandi land record
- Bank passbook

How to apply
Fewer steps than a central scheme, and usually one office rather than a portal.
- 1
Join a seed-production group
When your area is picked for the scheme, contact your local agriculture supervisor or the Raj Kisan portal and join the farmer group of 30–50 people.
- 2
Get certified seed and grow it
The group receives foundation seed from RSSC at the start of the season and grows it under the department's technical guidance.
- 3
Seed check and subsidy
After harvest, the seed is checked against certification standards, and the 25–50% subsidy on its cost is paid to the farmer.
