Overview
Across much of Rajasthan the crop that gets sown is not the crop that gets harvested — nilgai, wild boar and stray cattle take a share every night. Tarbandi treats the fence as a crop input and subsidises it, because a fenced field is the difference between a harvest and a grazed stubble.
The rate rises as the holding gets smaller and as farmers act together. A general farmer gets 50% up to ₹40,000 for fencing up to 400 running metres; a small or marginal farmer gets 60% up to ₹48,000; and a community of ten or more farmers fencing at least five hectares together gets up to 70%, capped at ₹56,000. The farmer contributes the balance, and applications run on the Raj Kisan portal.

- Permanent resident of Rajasthan
- Holding at least 0.5 hectare of land
- Willing to contribute the balance share of the fencing cost
- Registered on the Raj Kisan portal

Apply on the Raj Kisan portal
Register and apply at rajkisan.rajasthan.gov.in, or through an e-Mitra centre, before putting up any fencing.

Wait for sanction, then fence
Build the fence only after sanction. Fencing done before the order does not qualify for the subsidy.

The department verifies the fenced length against the sanction, and the subsidy share is released to your account.
